Paolo De Donato

2025-10-24

Paolo De Donato won the Bronze and Silver Medal at the 2013 and 2014 editions of the Italian Mathematical Olympiads in Cesenatico respectively. He got his Bachelor's and Master's degree in Mathematics at University of Naples "Federico II", with a Master's thesis on the quantitative isoperimetric inequalities. He got his PhD in Mathematics in 2023 at Sapienza University of Rome under the supervision of prof. Emanuele Spadaro with a thesis on regularity properties of multiple valued functions with stationary graph.

He then conducted postdoctoral research at Sapienza University of Rome and at University of Padua.

In 2025 he began a postdoc at the Institute for Theoretical Sciences of Westlake University.

Research interests

Paolo De Donato's research is focused on Geometric Measure Theory, in particular on regularity properties of multiple-valued functions and their application on various topics such as minimal surfaces and currents, both in codimension 1 and in arbitrary codimension. His scientific interests also include calculus of variations, subriemannian spaces and functions with bounded mean oscillation.
